Our season kicked off at the end of March with a big 5 Giant Hat wedding near Oughterard in Galway. The weather was not kind to the crew and set-up proved challenging enough. However talking to the lads about what their favourite event was this year, it always comes back to Galway...apparently the locals are particularly hospitable in this part of the country!!
April was the month for action and drama as we set up the tipis for re-enactment of the Battle of Clontarf in Swords and St Annes Square, which plays host to thousands of vikings and spectators.
In May we had all 10 of our Giant Hats plus our Kungsornen out, as we do every year, for the Odaois Street Food Festival in Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin. This is a really magical event where Odaios have many of their producers showcasing their delicious goods. This is always a real highlight of the year for us (not just as we get to go down and sample yummy food!).
June was the start of crazy season with weddings all over the country from Castle Ward to Cork. Caoimhe and Rob’s beautiful wedding was set right on Strangford Lough in the grounds of the National Trust’s Castle Ward.
June was also the month when we had corporate events coming out of our ears (not that we’re complaining!). These tended to be close to Dublin such as this event for Verve Marketing at the Radisson Blu in Stillorgan. But we did go as far as Kilkee in Co Clare for the Hell of the West Triathlon!
This is the event where the Hide Monster made his first appearance. Despite appearances, he was friendly enough...
In July we kicked off the month pretty much as far south as you can get, on Inish Beg in West Cork, with weddings in Carlow and Belfast on the same weekend. The following weekend we had 2 big 4 Giant Hat Weddings, one in Portlaoise and one up North at Castle Upton.
One of the most memorable weddings of this month has to be at Delphi Lodge for the breathtaking scenery.
I also really loved Nicola’s dressing of the tables with hessian table runners and simple but really pretty Gypsophila.
August was wedding mania hosting the largest number of weddings we have ever done in one month, with pretty much every tipi we own being booked out every weekend.
Gerry & Karolina’s wedding at Ballintoy in Co Antrim, as the view here never fails to delight.
Gene and Adele Coates for being such cool and chilled couple. Our crew were especially grateful for the cans of Magners after a hard days graft!
A one Giant Hat wedding in Ballinaglera, Leitrim, as sometimes small is best, especially in a setting such as this!
And at the end of the month, Electric Picnic for entertaining the lads!
At the beginning of September we had our first wedding at Springhill National Trust in Magherafelt, which is a really lovely venue.
We closed the month with our Autumn Open Day which was a huge success at Tyrella in Co Down, and we look forward to working with many of the couples over the next couple of years who attended.
We have had a pretty busy autumn considering it is usually our quiet season where we take this time to give our stock a good spring clean, replenish new stock and generally gather our thoughts and look to the year ahead. However this year we have been busy with Taste and Dine in the City (Belfast) at the start of October, a 30th birthday in Cork, and a seriously busy Halloween. November was taken up with the Festival of Lights in Mt Steward National Trust for the second year running.

Our Kungsornen for a Halloween Party in Holywood.
This month (December) we have one Giant Hat up at Filthy McNasty’s on the Dublin Road, Belfast so drop in for a pint when you are passing! The year finishes with a big winter wedding finale at Narrow Water Castle near Newry, which looks set to be a fairytale day – pictures to come in January. Now all we need is a white Christmas.....
Thank you all so much for supporting us throughout what has been a wonderful year. We couldn’t have done it without you!!!
HAPPY CHRISTMAS!! XX
